KERN COUNTY, Calif. (KERO) – Cranes, tractors and hard hats fill the site where the Hard Rock Tejon Hotel and Casino will be built in 2025.
- Now visible from Highway 166, the Hard Rock Tejon Hotel and Casino not only adds to the excitement of the community, but now also towers skyward.
- Anticipation is growing as construction progresses.
- The first phase of the Hard Rock Tejon Hotel and Casino is scheduled to open in December 2025.
TRANSCRIPT OF THE MISSION:
Candi Asuncion of the Tejon Indian Tribe said construction of the Hard Rock Tejon Hotel and Casino is proceeding according to plan.
“We have this steel infrastructure under construction, there are huge cranes out there and a lot of soft ground, but anything new we see out there just excites us,” Asuncion said.
Construction is in phase one, which includes the 13,000 square meter casino area.
“There will be 2,500 slot machines, 48 gaming tables, and numerous food and beverage outlets and restaurants,” Asuncion said.
She adds that the revenue generated by Hard Rock benefits not only tribal members, but the entire Kern County.
“Kern County benefits because one of the big factors is tourism and the economic growth and development that is happening here in south Bakersfield,” Asuncion said.
Asuncion said the project would create between 3,300 and 5,000 jobs from the start of construction to opening.
“Our main focus with this project is workforce development,” Asuncion said. “Not only opportunities for our tribal members, but opportunities for the members of Kern County.”
The first phase of the Hard Rock Tejon Hotel and Casino is scheduled to open in December 2025.
