Health problems of the frontman of a groundbreaking rock band lead to a postponement of the tour

Fans of popular rock band Coal Chamber showered the band with congratulations after they announced that they would postpone the remaining dates of their tour this year as frontman Dez Fafara battles a mysterious health issue.

Fafara revealed his health problem in a post on Friday on the band’s Instagram page.

“It is with a heavy heart that I want to share with you a story of a life turnaround,” Fafara wrote. “I am writing to you from my bed. I have been running 6 miles every day. I have been rehearsing in my home studio for two hours every day and I am excited to hit the road. I am excited to get on a bus with my brothers and sister and crew. As you all know, I have never felt better. I have fought hard after COVID tried to kill me in the long run.”

Then he went into detail about his current problem.

“Saturday morning I woke up and walked up the stairs,” he wrote. “I saw stars in my eyes. I passed out and my wife gave me CPR. My vitals were through the roof, I was white as a sheet and vomiting, and the whole world was spinning.”

Fafara said they called 9-1-1 and he was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he underwent nine hours of examinations, including X-rays of his heart and lungs.

“My doctor has recommended a CT scan. Until further tests are done, I must stay in bed and postpone the tour,” he wrote.

He said the tour is already booked for March 2025, and includes a March 29 appearance at HMAC in Harrisburg.

“See you in March 2025 on the Fiend For The Fans Tour,” he wrote. “This tour postponement is surreal. I was looking forward to playing with my band and connecting with fans, friends and family along the way.”

The fans reacted positively.

“Get well soon Dez and come back stronger than ever,” one person wrote.

“Sending you all the positive vibes!” wrote another. “I hope you get the answers you need so you can start feeling better soon… and hit the ground running in March!”

Fafara thanked everyone for their “great love and the many calls and texts asking about me.”

“It seems like the word has gotten around and since Sunday the whole industry has been calling me: musicians, agents and managers, and I really appreciate it.”

He also praised his band for their “amazing understanding.”

“Kiss your loved ones,” he added. “Nobody has a tomorrow. I will fight back to be on stage with you all, you can count on that.”

Fafara promised to keep fans updated on current events via social media.

“I’m sorry if this news means you have to change your schedule to attend the concert with us and I want to thank you in advance,” he added. “We are all really in the dark and I look forward to finding out what’s going on. HAIL.”

Coal Chamber was founded in 1992 and is considered to have popularized the nu-metal sound.
