North Platte’s “festival month” was a big month for Lincoln County’s lodging tax, which narrowly missed the $200,000 net revenue mark in June.

The 4% hotel and motel tax generated $199,268 in revenue during this year’s consecutive Miss Nebraska, Miss Rodeo Nebraska and Nebraskaland Days pageants for future tourism development in the city and county.

According to the Nebraska Department of Revenue’s latest monthly report, North Platte’s 2% combined municipal sales tax hit its 14th consecutive monthly record in June, with net sales of $1.433 million.

The county’s hotels and motels generated a total of $202,302 in lodging taxes in June before the state deducted its statutory 3% administrative fee. Both lodging and local sales taxes are repaid approximately six weeks after the end of the month.

Although the net hotel and motel tax total in June was less than $200,000, it was still 15.1% higher than the record $173,191 set in 2023 at the opening of the traditional summer season in June, July and August.
