How to get a blue axolotl in Minecraft
Unlike the other four species, the Blue Axolotl can only be obtained through breeding. Here are the items you need:
- 2 x Axolotl
- 2 x tropical fish
- 1 x breeding tank.
How to find Axolotls in Minecraft
To start the breeding process, fans need to catch two axolotls. They can be any color, like pink, brown, gold or cyan, and you can find them in the Lush cave biome. Axolotls are native to this flower biome and you can collect them using a bucket.
How to catch tropical fish in Minecraft
Tropical fish are common marine animals in various Minecraft Biomes. You can find them in these locations:
- Mangrove swamp
- Lukewarm ocean
- Deep, lukewarm ocean
- Warm ocean
- Lush caves.
Minecrafters will need to use a boat to explore the waters in these areas. And yes, make sure you have buckets in your inventory, as you will need two buckets of tropical fish to feed axolotls during their breeding season.
How to build a breeding pool in Minecraft
Finally, Minecrafters should have a breeding tank to house their axolotls in so that they reproduce quickly. To do this, place water source blocks on land and then build walls around the tank. When building the tank for your little friends, make sure that the walls are one block higher than the water surface.
If you don’t build this one-block high wall, the axolotls might escape into nearby oceans or bodies of water. Also, it would be a good idea to build your pool near a place where tropical fish are easy to find. This way, players can quickly feed the axolotls with the fish without wasting time.
Once your pool is ready, just put the axolotls in and add the buckets of tropical fish. The chance of getting a blue axolotl is still pretty slim, but you can keep breeding axolotls to increase your chances of getting one.
