Hundreds without power in Augusta and Waynesboro after Debby

The remnants of Tropical Storm Debby hit Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro last night, bringing with it a flash flood warning, wind advisories and a tornado warning.

The overnight storm also caused power outages for hundreds of residents in Augusta County and Waynesboro.

Here’s who’s been out since Friday morning.

Dominion Energy in Waynesboro

In Waynesboro, 406 Dominion Energy customers are without power in nine project areas.

  • The largest outage is along Duke Road and Rockfish Road and extends to William Perry Elementary School. Crews are on site working to restore power to the 215 affected customers.
  • Crews are on site due to an outage between Berkeley Glenn School and South River, leaving 122 customers without power.
  • Emergency crews are on site around Maple Avenue and are affecting 20 customers.
  • Around South Magnolia Avenue, 12 customers are without power.
  • Around Shiloh Avenue, another 12 customers are without power.
  • Two customers are traveling near Windigrove Drive, near I-64.
  • Four customers are walking along Fairway Drive.
  • Two customers are traveling along Hopeman Parkway.
  • A customer is near Flat Rock Road, just outside of Waynesboro.

Dominion Energy in Augusta County

As of 10:05 a.m., 18 projects affecting 295 Dominion Energy customers are underway in Augusta County.

  • Crews are on site around Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church to restore power to 62 customers. An additional three customers are impacted by another construction site north of there on Crimora Fire Road.
  • Another 62 Stuarts Draft customers along Cambridge Drive are without power.
  • Crews were dispatched to US 340 near the Grottoes Seventh-Day Adventist Church to restore power to 23 nearby customers.
  • Three customers without power near Stover.
  • Four customers east of Crimora Park.
  • Two customers southeast of Churchville.
  • Four customers outside near Dooms Crossing Road.
  • Two customers outside near the intersection of US 262 and US 250 north of Staunton.
  • Three different project sites impact a customer piece around E. Timber Ridge Road north of Grottoes.
  • Three customers are impacted by two project sites around Ore Bank Road east of Grottoes.
  • One customer each near Pine Bluff Road, Hildebrand Church Road, Holly Avenue in Grottoes,

Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative near Crimora in Augusta County

The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative outage map reports two outages near Crimora at 9:50 a.m.

  • Two members experienced a power outage near Trayfoot Road around 5 a.m.
  • Another 11 members experienced a power outage near Crimora Mine Road and Thorofare Road at around 8:45 a.m.
