“I have flight recordings of helicopters”: Trump sticks to his horror story about helicopter flight

Donald Trump has reiterated his claim that he experienced an emergency Helicopter landing with the former mayor of San Francisco Willie Browndespite his denials, and claimed he had evidence.
Earlier Thursday, the Republican presidential candidate said he almost died in a helicopter crash with Willie Brown. However, Brown denied ever being in a helicopter with Trump. Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle, Brown said, “They would have known if I had crashed in a helicopter with Trump.” He also refuted Trump’s claim that he had made negative comments about Harris.
However, Trump appeared to have confused him with Jerry Brown, the former governor of California, with whom he may have traveled by helicopter in 2018, according to the New York Times. Jerry BrownThe spokesman also denied it and said: “There was no emergency landing and no discussion about Kamala Harris.”
Amid growing confusion over who is telling the truth and who isn’t, another man, Nate Holden, said he remembered a near-death experience on a helicopter ride with Donald Trump. “Willie is the little black guy who lives in San Francisco,” Holden said. “I’m a big black guy who lives in Los Angeles.” “I guess we all look the same,” Holden told Politico, laughing loudly.
Trump later stood by his statement, claiming there were “logs,” maintenance records and witnesses to back up his story, but provided no evidence.
“We have the helicopter’s flight records,” the Republican candidate told the New York Times on Friday.
He has told the helicopter story before, in his 2023 book “Letters to Trump,” in which he published letters from several people to him, including Brown. In the book, Trump wrote: “We actually had an emergency landing together in a helicopter. It was a little scary for both of us, but luckily we made it through.”
Trump also mentioned the possibility of suing the New York Times for its coverage of his comments, referring to reporter Maggie Haberman as “Maggot Hagerman.”
On Friday, the NYT said the “stunning story” Trump told about his near-death on a helicopter ride never actually happened. Later that afternoon, Trump angrily called the NYT and threatened to sue, vehemently claiming he once participated in a dangerous helicopter landing with Willie Brown and had recordings of the flight.”
In an angry phone call with a New York Times reporter as he landed in Bozeman, Montana, several hours before his scheduled rally due to a mechanical problem on his plane, Trump sharply criticized the Times for its coverage of his out-of-time news conference Thursday at Mar-a-Lago, his private club and home, where he reported on an emergency landing during a helicopter ride he said he had taken with Brown,” the New York Times reported.
