ICE arrests suspected Massachusetts hotel rapist, released on 0 bail

Cory Alvarez, a Haitian national accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a Rockland migrant hotel, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) today, the Herald has learned.

Alvarez, 26, was released on $500 bail after a Plymouth court rejected a federal arrest warrant. He was arrested today by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, according to law enforcement sources.

He was last reported to be living in Brockton, but this morning it is unclear whether he has been located there.

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz also filed a motion to keep Alvarez in custody pending the outcome of his case. That motion was denied, court records show. Another source told the Herald that Alvarez was being monitored via GPS.

Alvarez is accused of raping a young girl who police described in a report as “disabled” without specifying a specific disability. He has pleaded not guilty.

Alvarez and the alleged victim both lived at the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham Street in Rockland, which prosecutors say has been converted into a migrant housing facility operated under both state and federal programs.

The Hingham Clerk of Court’s office instructed the Herald to submit all questions about Alvarez via email. They sent back court records showing that he had been arraigned in Superior Court.

According to the police report, Rockland police responded to the hotel shortly after 7 p.m. on March 13 after a receptionist there called and reported a rape.

“He raped me,” the girl told investigators from an examination room at South Shore Hospital, according to a police report. “I asked him to leave me alone, but he didn’t stop.”

This is a developing story…
