IHG signs contract for third InterContinental hotel in Florida, USA

IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its portfolio in the US state of Florida with the signing of the InterContinental Orlando.

The new property on International Drive in Orlando is scheduled to open in 2028 and will be the brand’s third hotel in the state.

It is being developed in collaboration with Flag Luxury Group and Unicorp National Developments.

“The city’s energy and extensive entertainment offerings continue to make it one of the most exciting destinations in the country. InterContinental Orlando will be an incredible addition to our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the Americas.”

Paul Kanavos, CEO of Flag Luxury Group, said: “Together with Unicorp National Developments (Chuck Whittall), we are dedicated to creating unique and world-class hospitality, culinary and cultural offerings, and the InterContinental Orlando will be no exception.”

The InterContinental Orlando will have 700 guest rooms, including 84 suites.

Five restaurants and bars are planned on the property, including a full-service restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby bar and lounge, a café, and a pool bar and grill.

The property will feature 15,000 square feet (1,300 m²) of spa and wellness facilities including a pool and fitness center.

In addition, it will feature almost 10,000 m² of meeting and event space, a business center and the unique Club InterContinental Lounge.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts currently operates more than 220 hotels worldwide and is currently developing a further 100 properties.

Recent openings include the InterContinental Bellevue on the Avenue in Washington and the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk

This announcement follows IHG’s multi-year collaboration with global NGO Action Against Hunger.

IHG’s portfolio currently includes more than 6,400 hotels opened in over 100 countries and has a development pipeline of over 2,200 properties.
