I’m a flight attendant…these are the people who cause the most problems on airplanes – and they are NOT celebrities

Influencers set out with the best intentions – to make videos that inspire wanderlust.

However, some of them turn out to be annoying along the way. One former stewardess, for example, claimed that it is the stars of the internet, not those of the screen, that get on your nerves the most.

Skye Taylor, 49, from Southampton, worked as a stewardess for 16 years, first with budget airlines and then working her way up to a position with Virgin Atlantic.

When asked who the most annoying passengers on board were, Skye told MailOnline: “The biggest problems are on routes like Dubai and Vegas, where you get the type of influencer who may not have paid full price. That could be quite difficult.”

“I think when you look at superstars and people who can afford their tickets, they were generally nice and very respectful people.”

Skye believes that many of the problems flight attendants face with passengers on board are “mainly caused by alcohol,” which causes people to “behave out of character.”

However, the condition of the Los Angeles influencer could be made worse by other substances, said the former flight attendant.

Skye noted, “It’s very common for people in LA to take sleeping pills, things like Valium, and then go on board and drink. And that changes people’s character. I think you just have to be vigilant and watch how people’s behavior changes.”

Are there more problems with passengers in economy class than in business class?

Skye said: “It could be just one person in economy class or a few people in upper (Virgin’s business class)… you can never predict what will cause someone to behave unusually and it’s very difficult to assess what they’ve taken.”

Fortunately, Skye believes the Virgin Atlantic crew knows how to deal with misbehaving passengers… although she admits it can be difficult.

She said: “You get a very good service on Virgin Atlantic and that demands a lot from the crew. And trying to keep control of the cabins and things like that is very, very difficult. But yes, most of the time it has been done right – but it does demand a lot from you.”

However, Skye reveals that low-cost airlines do not support their crews in the same way.

Skye added: “In terms of safety, we were very well looked after, I would say. But I feel very sorry for the budget airline crew at the moment who don’t seem to have the same support as we do.”

“You see so many incidents at the moment, most of them involving alcohol and the behaviour of people on board… it seems to be encouraged at the moment, which is dangerous in itself.”

Other events that can be difficult, according to Skye, include “security incidents” and medical issues.

The former stewardess said: “They try to provide good customer service. I myself performed CPR at 10,600 metres – I had to deal with it and at the same time control the aircraft without allowing it to affect other passengers who may not even know what is happening.”
