Santino Ferrucci surprisingly secured pole position ahead of the BITNILE.com Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday after driving a breathtaking lap in qualifying.
The No. 14 AJ Foyt Enterprises car set a blistering 00:58.2046 lap time at Portland International Raceway to beat championship contenders Will Power and Alex Palou in its first-ever appearance in the fast-six field.

It is Ferrucci’s first IndyCar pole position in the series and his team’s first in a decade.
Power and Palou will start Sunday’s race in P2 and P3 after setting lap times of 00:58.3120 and 00:58.4316 respectively.
The remaining fast six were completed by Christian Lundgaard, Kyle Kirkwood and Graham Rahal. However, both Kirkwood and Rahal will start Sunday’s race significantly further back as they received grid penalties for exceeding their engine allocation.
