With the Pixel 9 launch already complete, all our attention is now focused on what Apple is planning to do with the iPhone 16. The company hasn’t made any announcements or even hinted at the existence of the iPhone 16, but a September 2024 launch is widely expected. There are already initial leaks of dummy units of the device and today we get our first look at the gold-like color of the iPhone 16 Pro.
Leaker Sonny Dickson has released dummy units for the iPhone 16 Pro (probably looking more like the larger Max lineup than the smaller Pro). These dummy units match what we’ve seen in his previous leaks, but this set has a new color variant.
We had already seen the white, black and natural titanium colors for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, so the gold color is the only surprise here. The gold is a bit too dark here, venturing into a mix of dark yellow-orange, almost sandy brown, similar to the saddle brown color we associate with leather (but that would be glass here).
These are dummy devices, as you can tell by the identical camera apertures and the lack of a rectangular aperture for the tetraprism periscope camera. Nevertheless, the shape, dimensions and colors should be similar to what we may see in the final retail units shipped to customers.
Apple is rumored to replace the iPhone 15 Pro’s Blue Titanium color with a “Rose” or “Rose Gold” color for the iPhone 16 Pro’s titanium build. This new color is said to be a bronze tone, and we can see the dummy unit is closer to the rumored hue. There’s a chance that the color changes depending on the light reflection on the back of the device, so you could get different shades depending on the lighting.
