I admit that I am not the biggest gamer in the world. I never managed to get the consoles to play, so I mainly live in the world of Let’s Plays on YouTube. However, I worked very hard to get my little Switch, so I always enjoy playing games on it. When the highly acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order came out, I was disappointed but not surprised that the game wouldn’t be coming to the Switch. However, that could soon change if this rumor about the Star Wars video game is true.
To be clear, this is very a rumor and should be taken with caution. Shared on the subreddit GamingLeaksandRumours via GameranxUser Joseki100 revealed a post from a person named ResetERA, who allegedly worked on the Switch 2, sharing that several third-party titles would be coming to the console. They said:
“Hmmmm, I never signed any papers or electronic NDAs, I just heard that the Switch 2 would be coming out in early 2023 in 2025 as I had the opportunity to port a game to it for my next project. I had just finished the sequel to said game so that should tell you what kind of library is being prepared for this thing, although to be honest it was a big franchise and a big name for casual/non-gamers to get excited about. I think Nintendo wants to give a big time buffer for third party/AAA ports to build up until the release date.”
Joseki100 then speculates: “The timing is perfect for Fallen order as a continuation (Survivors) will be released in 2023, the presumed date that person began work on the previous entry in this “big name franchise” (Star Wars).”
Again, these are just rumors and speculations. However, I would be happy about it. The Switch is usually much cheaper than some of its competitors. If I trade in my small Switch for a Switch 2, I would like to finally be able to play Jedi: Fallen Order. I want to go on an adventure with Cal Kestis, hang out with my little buddy BD-1, fight the Second Sister, and finally see what this popular game is all about.
As always, we’ll have to wait and see if this rumor is true or not. For all we know, it could be Bantha Poodoo. But a Star Wars fan can dream, right?
