The autumn equinox in late September marks the official start of fall—but if you can’t wait that long, Starbucks is offering its fall menu starting today (Thursday).
The coffee chain started serving its signature pumpkin spice latte this morning, among other holiday treats, and people in Arlington were seen picking up their drink.
A Starbucks employee in Virginia Square told ARLnow that a small container of pumpkin flavoring that normally lasts two weeks had to be refilled a few times by 8:30 a.m. Thursday. In Ballston, Starbucks employees wore bright orange pumpkin hats to celebrate the occasion.
August 22 is the earliest PSL has been available on the streets since the drink was released in 2003. Starbucks’ fall menu once came out on September 8 in 2015, but since then the drink has tended to be available earlier and earlier, according to Axios.
Also now available are Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, as well as a new drink: Iced Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai.
The Apple Crisp drink complements a whole range of other apple-flavored beverages: To name a few, an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, an Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and an Iced Carmel Apple Cream Latte.
Sweet fall treats include the back-in-stock pumpkin cream cheese muffin and a raccoon cake pop with a friendly chocolate-frosted face. The company also called its baked apple croissant and pumpkin squash bread “perfect fall food combinations.”
The seasonal menu isn’t the only sign that Arlington is gearing up for fall. ARLnow spotted Halloween items, including spooky candy and pumpkin beer, at some area stores earlier this month.
