While everyone else is bathed in butter yellow (Hailey Bieber) or roast green (Charli XCX), Jennifer Lawrence is already thinking about a color trend for fall 2024.
J.Law went shopping in New York City over the weekend in a red-on-red outfit. She wore a puffy poplin shirt with just two buttons in the middle, paired with red flared corduroy pants. Both were from one of her favorite brands (The Row), and both dipped in a variation of the moody, burgundy color trends that will dominate fall 2024.

Jennifer Lawrence didn’t go head-to-toe with the runway stylings of Gucci, Khaite and Saint Laurent. Instead of wearing cherry red shoes or a burgundy bag, she accessorized with a black saddle bag by Dior and suede loafers by Charvet.

The Hunger Games Star has spent the summer so far in the hottest trends: a rubber sandal here, a touch of leopard print there, mesh ballet flats every day in between. She’s also broadened her luxury horizons with It-girl accessories from St. Agni and Tory Burch, as well as her runway favorites from The Row, Loewe and Alaïa.
Choosing red on dark red is a small break in style given her recent looks, but not entirely unprecedented. With the help of her stylist Jamie Mizrahi, Jennifer Lawrence has shown that she has picked up on the most important runway trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week to Milan and Paris. In the coming season, as Marie-Claire As previously reported, it will be burgundy and pinot noir, an evolution of the fire engine tones Ferragamo popularized under Maximilian Davis. Now the designers are turning to darker, moodier tones reminiscent of a glass of red wine.

Some celebrities have literally embraced the moody color trend for fall 2024. Zendaya recently tried out a maroon manicure in London; in Los Angeles, Selena Gomez had her favorite nail artist create a custom “muted red” shade. Jennifer Lawrence is the first to opt for dark red off the runway, but all indications are that she won’t be the last.
