While our favorite NFL players are in training camp for the first preseason games of the year, beloved former players are enjoying some last-minute summer fun. Even though current players are heading back to the field, this offseason has been all about the former brothers of active players.

We’re used to seeing former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce enjoying his retirement at the Paris Olympics and launching new business ventures – like buying Garage Beer with his brother Travis Kelce – but he’s not the only ex-football player waiting for his sportscasting job to start again. Former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt seems to be spending his vacation at a very specific fast-food restaurant: Culver’s.

The “NFL Today” host and Wisconsin native has often shared his love for the Midwestern chain throughout his career.

“A Culver’s is being built right next to the training facility here in AZ… I feel right at home. #Wisconsin,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in 2011.

JJ Watts Favorite Fast Food Order

Now Watt is teaming up with Culver’s for the JJ’s Way menu, which includes all of former NFL Player of the Year Walter Payton’s chain favorite dishes.

“I’ve been eating at Culver’s since I was a kid. I’ve tried everything on the menu, I’ve tried every combination, and after 35 years, this is my favorite order,” Watt said in a video. “I eat at Culver’s so often that they named a dish after me.”

Watt’s favorite fast food orders include a Culver’s Deluxe – consisting of two signature ButterBurger patties topped with Wisconsin cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions and mayo – Wisconsin Cheese Curds, root beer and a Turtle Sundae – consisting of chocolate pudding, hot fudge sauce, caramel and a maraschino cherry.

The love for this particular Culver’s order seems to run in the Watt family – just like football. JJ’s brother, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt, shared his Culver’s order in a 2021 interview with Barstool Sports.

“I’ll have a Double Deluxe Burger – with ketchup, because they don’t put ketchup on it. Then I’ll have cheese curds. My fiancée has ranch sauce. I’ll have marinara sauce. And then I usually make myself two scoops of chocolate pudding in a bowl,” TJ said.

If you don’t want to take the word of two future Hall of Famers about how great the fast-food chain is, we asked four chefs to pick the best fast-food restaurant and—spoiler alert—their answer was Culver’s.

The JJ’s Way menu is available at Culver’s restaurants nationwide through September 29.

With this partnership announcement, you know what that means: It’s time to stock up on special NFL Bud Light cans and your favorite tailgate party food because football is officially back.
