Farmhouse Fixer Stars Jonathan Knight and Kristina Crestin joined Mika in the first episode of the series, lending their design and renovation expertise. They renovated two guest rooms at the William & Garland Motel in Salter Path, North Carolina. Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott decided Mika’s team was the winner over Brian, who was paired with Sarah and Bryan Baeumler (Renovation island).

Jonathan shared a photo from filming on Instagram and his fans left hundreds of comments. Sorry. Was all excited about the new show!” Another wrote: “Oh dear. This is bad. Not beachy AT ALL!!!”

Unlike many HGTV competition shows, the teams on 100 Day Hotel Challenge have input from the property owners, and in the case of Mika’s Motel, the owners live on site. She explained: “They were involved, but there were some wish list items that were part of our evaluation criteria, so we had to make sure we stayed true to their wish list.”

The motel’s owners shared photos of the renovation on Facebook and are definitely happy with the results. They wrote, “This room is so beautiful and perfectly designed. We wanted an upscale vintage vibe and the team exceeded all expectations! I’m obsessed with the combination of the shutters and our original headboard. The wallpaper is tropical and unique. 8 of our 10 other rooms have kitchenettes and there was just no room in this room for a dining area for 4. The newly upholstered wicker chairs are so perfect and we can’t forget the masterfully crafted built-in woodwork!”

In the next episode, Brian and Mika team up with Michel Smith Boyd and Galey Alix to update the lobbies of all the hotels. The episode airs Tuesday, August 20th at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST on HGTV and Max.
