Jordanian chilis may have to return one of her Olympic medals … because a review board believes a challenge to her result should not have been allowed.
Here’s the thing: In the women’s floor exercise on Monday, Chiles was originally awarded a score of 13.666, placing her in fifth place and just missing the podium.
WHAT A MOMENT 🥹
Jordan Chiles had a skill disallowed and Team USA requested a review…
This is her reaction when she found out she won bronze 🥉

Although she was initially discouraged, her coaches requested a review of the difficulty level… which the judges allowed. After watching the routine, they increased her score by a tenth of a point – putting her in third place.
So Chiles won the bronze medal – controversially bowed To the winner Rebecca Andrade with her teammate Simone Biles – and finished her 2024 Olympic Games with two medals.
Fast forward to Saturday … and the Court of Arbitration for Sport – a review body that settles rules disputes in sports – said her coaches had reopened the challenge after the one-minute time window expired, resetting her score to 13.666.
The arbitration panel can change the score, but cannot strip the Olympians of their medals… so it is now up to the FĂ©dĂ©ration Internationale de Gymnastique to decide whether to strip Chile’s medal and award it to the fourth-placed Romanian. Ana Barbosu who scored 13,700 points.

The U.S. Olympic team sharply criticized the decision in its statement supporting the gymnast … and claimed the review was conducted in good faith and should stand.
Either way, Chiles leaves Paris with at least one medal… a gold medal in the team all-around – so not a total loss for the 23-year-old, who will almost certainly compete in LA in 2028.
The decision of the FĂ©dĂ©ration Internationale de Gymnastique is likely to be made soon… until then, the future of Chile’s medal is uncertain.
