K9s in Flight takes dogs from homelessness to the heights at UP State Fair

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Admission to this week’s UP State Fair includes a unique show featuring some very special artists.
The K9s in Flight are a group of dogs that can do flips, catch Frisbees, jump far into a pool of water, and a variety of other tricks. K9s in Flight has been featured on television channels such as Animal Planet, ESPN, and The Discovery Channel.

All of the dogs on the show were either rescued from the streets, adopted from shelters, or saved from being rehomed. Human performer Autumn Trainor says K9s in Flight takes her from “homelessness to soaring high.”

“We’re promoting here that you can adopt a pet and it can still accomplish all kinds of things and entertain people,” Trainor said. “You can get good animals from a breeder, but there are so many out there that need a home and are still very viable to live incredible lives, entertain you, be part of your family and do amazing things.”

The K9s in Flight perform several shows each day of the fair. The show takes place between the grandstand and the Ruth Butler Building.

WZMQ 19 is a proud Reserve Champion Sponsor of the 2024 UP State Fair. Stay tuned all week for live reports from the fairgrounds.
