Keo continues to take off with the new single “Crow”

Led by English-Irish brothers Finn and Conor Keogh – and flanked by drummer Oli Spackman and guitarist Jimmy Lanwern – this new band is one to keep an eye on.

Only a handful of songs and sound snippets have been released so far (though nothing has appeared on Spotify and other DSPs yet), but their subtle, grunge-laden blend of melody and angst is already clearly audible.

And this is especially true of their latest track “Crow,” which you can listen to via the visualizer below.

Recorded live to tape at 123 Studios in March this year and produced by Brett Shaw (of Foals and Florence + The Machine fame), the new track is a typical example of Keo’s raw approach and illustrates why the band recently opened for Kings Of Leon.

On the release of “Crow”, frontman Finn Keogh explained the emotional basis of the song as follows: “The lyrics of ‘Crow’ provide a perspective on the time and remind me of the fear I felt when a loved one was suffering from cancer, who has now thankfully recovered.”

“I have always been a spiritual person who looks for meaning in everything. Sometimes, perhaps to the point of being unproductive, I often see things as signs of what is to come.

“‘Crow’ is a reminder of the fear and pain I felt when they were sick, and how I am now grateful that they are OK, but still afraid that the disease could return.”

In addition to their BST slot, the band also gained some live experience with other shows alongside Courting, bdrmm, Ugly, Enola Gay, Chappaqua Wrestling and others.

Next up for the band is a headline gig at the legendary Windmill in Brixton on August 28th – a venue where many successful bands have plied their trade when they were still relatively young.

They then have appearances at the Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester and the Left of the Dial Festival in Rotterdam in October – visit the band’s website for more information and to buy tickets.
