Speaking to Anime Corner at this year’s Anime Expo, producer Ryoya Arisawa hinted at a more refined animation experience: “After going through TV and cinema, I think we’ve created a more refined and cooler visual presentation, a kind of culmination. Of course, the content of the battles is important, but I hope everyone also sees the development of the direction. As I mentioned, during the first season we tried to meet deadlines and get everything finished in time for broadcast, but this time we’re getting the hang of it and trying to bring something new to the table.”

Crunchyroll streams the first season of Blue Castle Anime and has already confirmed that the second season will be streamed in the fall. The streaming platform describes the plot:
Japan’s desire to win the World Cup has prompted the Japan Football Association to launch a new, demanding training program to find the next striker for the national team. Three hundred high school players are competing for the position, but only one will prevail. Which of them will be the striker who ushers in a new era of Japanese football?

The prequel Blue Castle: Episode Nagi The film premiered worldwide this summer. In Japan, the film will be streamed on Prime Video starting September 1st.
