Six Senses opens resort in Telluride. IHG Hotels & Resorts is opening a Six Senses resort in Telluride, Colorado in 2028. Six Senses Telluride will feature 77 rooms and 24 branded residences and will be IHG’s first luxury resort in the Mountain West region of North America when it opens. The Vault Home Collection, based in Golden, Colorado, is partnering with IHG to develop the property. Six Senses has 27 hotels and resorts opened worldwide, with 40 in the planning stages.

Wyndham opens huge project in Thailand. Wyndham Hotels & Resort will open a 2,000-room hotel and apartment project near Hua Hin in Thailand in 2025. Upon completion, the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Hua Hin Cha-am will be the largest Wyndham hotel in Asia. Opening is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025. The project is located in the Cha-am district in western Thailand.

Star Asia acquires four in Japan. Tokyo-based REIT Star Asia Investment Corp. has acquired three hotels in Tokyo and one hotel in Osaka for a total of 34.6 billion yen, according to HVS. The three hotels in Tokyo are the 188-room Koko Hotel Tsukiji Ginza for 17 billion yen, the 42-room Koko Hotel Residence Asakusa Tawaramachi for 8.9 billion yen and the 47-room Koko Hotel Residence Asakusa Kappabashi for 6.7 billion yen. The hotel in Osaka is the 211-room Koko Hotel Osaka Shinsaibashi, acquired for 11.7 billion yen. The hotels are operated by Polaris Group, a subsidiary of Star Asia.

MA Financial sells in Australia. Sydney-based MA Financial Group has sold the Mantra Bathurst hotel in Australia to an undisclosed local owner and operator for A$13 million, HVS said. The 50-room Mantra Bathurst hotel represents a 34% increase over its 2021 purchase price.
