Leadership discusses NASA Boeing crew flight test

WASHINGTON, 22 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ – NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and leadership will hold an internal review of the agency’s flight readiness for NASA’s Boeing Crew Flight Test on Saturday, August 24. About an hour later, NASA will hold a live news conference from the agency’s Johnson Space Center in at 1 p.m. EDT. Houston.

NASA and Boeing have been collecting data on the Starliner spacecraft’s propulsion and helium systems both in space and on the ground to better understand ongoing technical challenges. The review includes a mission status update, a review of technical data and closure actions, and confirmation of flight authority for undocking and return from the space station.

NASA’s Boeing Crew Flight Test started on 5 June on a ULA (United Launch Alliance) Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in FloridaIt is an end-to-end test of the Starliner system as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. By partnering with America’s private sector, NASA is opening up access to low Earth orbit and the space station to more people, science and commercial opportunities.
