Liam and Noel Gallagher announce return of the legendary band

Watch: Oasis reunion hinted at after Liam Gallagher’s Reading performance

Liam and Noel Gallagher have fueled speculation that an Oasis reunion could finally happen as the brothers hinted that a band announcement could come on Tuesday.

A short clip in the same font and style as the band’s famous logo also appeared on the brothers’ social media accounts on Sunday. as official Oasis site.

It shows the date “08/27/24” before flickering and then displaying “8am”.

Fans of the Manchester rock band have been begging the brothers to reunite since they split in 2009 following a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Founded in 1991, the group became famous with hits such as “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” and “Stop Crying Your Heart Out.”

According to a Sunday Times report citing unnamed industry insiders, the brothers have a series of concerts scheduled for next year, including appearances at London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park.

The article mentioned reports that Wembley could be booked for 10 dates – which, if true, break the eight-gig record set by Taylor Swift this year.

There is also speculation that a Glastonbury A headlining slot could be in the works.

Liam Gallagher spent much of Sunday responding to rumors on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I’ve never liked the word FORMER,” he said, before sharing news articles about the reunion rumors.

In his headline Reading Festival on Sunday evening, he dedicated the oasis Song “Half The World Away” to his brother, Saying: “I would like to dedicate this song to Noel Gallagher.”

He later dedicated “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to the people who, according to him, hated the band.

At the end of the performance, the same teaser clip with Tuesday’s date appeared on the main screens on the stage.

Absolutely, maybe? An Oasis reunion tour could be a huge source of revenue for the band.

It’s been 30 years since the Gallagher brothers rose to stardom with Oasis’ 1994 chart hit “Definitely Maybe” – it helped launch the Britpop era and propelled the wild duo and their band to megastar status.

In 1996, an incredible 2.5 million people signed up for tickets to their two shows at Knebworth – which may be an indication of the demand they might face for new gigs.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, music journalist John Robb said Oasis had shaped the generation that grew up in the 1990s, adding that the atmosphere at all reunion events was “fantastic”.

The hype has sent fans into a frenzy, and many people have shared their excitement – and criticism – online.

One fan said Heaton Park was a “terrible venue for concerts,” to which Liam replied: “See you at the front…”

When asked by another when the dates for the reunion would be announced, he replied: “Next Friday…”

Fans outside Sifters record store in Burnage, Manchester – which is mentioned in the Oasis song Shakermaker – voiced their reaction.

“They’ve been a big part of my life since I was growing up,” said one woman who has an Oasis tattoo on her back. “I’m not going to sleep tonight, I’m so excited.”

“We grew up around the corner from Noel and Liam,” said another.

“A band like Oasis is priceless, isn’t it?” she added. “The people of Burnage will pay (to see them), and so will everyone else.”

A third fan said: “You’ve dreamt about it in your dreams but never in person. When you think about them getting together… I think this is it.”

The brothers have always had a contentious relationship, and a number of tours failed over the years, culminating in a backstage fight in 2009 This led to Noel leaving the band.

This has raised questions among some as to what the real motives behind a possible reunification might be.

Helen Brown, music critic for the Independent, told BBC News: “After decades of attacking each other with cricket bats and fire extinguishers, it is extraordinary that (the Gallagher brothers) appear to be getting on better – and perhaps money is an incentive here.”

She added: “Perhaps they can settle their differences to fill their coffers.”

The couple have since had successful careers separately, with Noel leading the group Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Of the other original band members, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs recently toured with Liam, but drummer Tony McCarroll and bassist Paul McGuigan have not played with the Gallaghers since 1997’s “Definitely Maybe” and “Be Here Now,” respectively.
