Light Science Technologies receives order from Richel

Light science technologies announced on Tuesday that it had received an order for its CEA nurturGROW lighting from Richel, a specialist in agronomic solutions.

Light Science said delivery of the £123,000 order would begin in January 2025 and revenue was expected to be recognised in the first half of 2025.

Light Science will supply its NurturGROW lighting solution, tailored to Richel’s specifications, in an aeroponic greenhouse being built on a 0.5 hectare site in Germany. It will be used to grow a variety of leafy vegetables and is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2015.

The AIM (Alternative Investment Market)-listed group said its Controlled Environment Agriculture division generated sales of around £500,000 in the eight months to 31 July and had order volumes of over £40 million.

Chief Executive Officer Simon Deacon said: “This significant order underlines the increased interest in our CEA solutions as we look to transform our growing global sales pipeline.”

“Global food and water shortages, population growth, climate change, consumer habits and government policies are forcing producers to rethink the way they grow food. We believe our CEA division is well positioned to take full advantage of the significant long-term business opportunities in this market.”

At 2:15pm BST, Light Science shares were down 0.91% at 2.63p.
