Live updates on the 2024 election: Trump holds press conference from Mar-a-Lago

Rally participants say Harris’ message of rights is important for women and daughters

Chloe Longmire, who attended Wednesday’s rally in Eau Claire, said she was encouraged and excited that Harris has the potential to become the first black president.

“She’s trying to create a world where all people have the right to their own decisions, their bodies and their choices. Women’s rights are definitely crucial, she told AP. “As a woman, as a woman with a daughter, that’s definitely what I’m looking for. I want her to have a right to her own body. We talk about it every day, all the time. And that’s something that’s central to me.”

Andrea Lorenz noticed that her teenage children were more interested in the election than ever before.

“I have two teenage children, a daughter who suddenly wasn’t excited about the election. And now. And now she is,” she said, adding, “I like what she says about education and abortion rights.”

Wisconsin voter Dan Miller said he liked the tone and message of the Harris-Walz campaign.

“I love when Tim Walz says, ‘Yeah, we’re the monsters.’ Look at us. We want, we want. We want to feed children. We want to educate everyone. We want women to have a choice instead of the government making decisions for them,” he said. “It’s the tone they use. It’s the message itself. It’s just so much better. We love Joe. Joe was an incredible president, but he’s just not the same messenger. And sometimes you need a better messenger. And that’s Kamala.”
