Los Angeles Lakers sign ex-Beaver Kylor Kelley after strong G-League season

Kylor Kelley only played two seasons of basketball at Oregon State, but still left his mark as one of the best defensive players in the program’s history. Kelley holds eight different program records for blocked shots and has the seventh most blocked shots in Pac-12 basketball history.

Kelley’s latest professional opportunity will come with the Los Angeles Lakers, who signed Kelley this week for a reported Annex 10 to the contract.

Exhibit 10 contracts allow a franchise to add a player to its roster during the offseason without that player counting toward the maximum number of 15 players on the roster (not including the three allowed two-way contracts) that applies during the season.

Kelley finished his time at Oregon State in 2020 with 211 blocks and averaged 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Last season for the Maine Celtics, Kelley averaged 8.4 points on 68.6 percent shooting from the field, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.9 blocks. For his efforts, he was named to the 2024 NBA G League All-Defensive Team. He blocked 105 shots in a season, setting a Maine team record. He most recently played for the Oklahoma City Thunder Summer League team.

Kelley still has a few things to do to make the Lakers’ roster for the upcoming regular season, but signing this contract is a good first step.
