For its 2025 Color of the Year, available exclusively at Lowe’s, STAINMASTER chose a rich neutral, Truffle, a restful dark shade that offers homeowners an extensive color palette.
Monica Reese, trend and style director at Lowe’s, has noticed that people are gravitating toward darker shades, with darker neutrals trending this year.

“Customers are venturing away from whites and grays but are still looking for neutrals, and Truffle is a more dynamic neutral,” added Reese. “Truffle has a rich hue with a touch of elegance and versatility. It can transform your entire space while giving it a classic look. Depending on what you pair with it, you can create different moods. Cool tones create a more modern look, while ivory leads to a more classic look. This color is specifically for interiors.”
Reese said the versatility of truffles is part of their appeal.
“We tend to go for colors that are very homey and easy to design and plan,” Reese said. “You can create a very modern look or a timeless look. The bolder or brighter colors are better for accents and can be easily changed.”
For example, Reese noted that STAINMASTER colors like Clean White, Ivory Wool and Biscotti are neutrals that pair beautifully with Truffle.
Last year, Lowe’s and STAINMASTER chose the color of the year for the first time, choosing English Green. Reese noted that shades of green will remain on trend this year.
“We continue to see a growing popularity of greens, from moss green to emerald green, and we’re also seeing them in cabinets and flooring,” said Reese. “We expect greens to remain popular and on trend for quite some time.”
Reese found that truffles pair well with English Green.
