Mad Cave Studios launches new manga imprint, Nakama Press

Mad Cave Studios announced that it is launching Nakama Press, a new label focused on producing manga, manhwa, and licensed titles. Nakama Press joins labels such as Maverick, Papercutz, and Amazing Comics and is aimed at all ages, blending art and storytelling aesthetics from both East and West. The press release promises a showcase of both original stories and licensed titles. The announcement comes just in time for Anime NYC, a convention focused on anime and manga.

In the press release, Mark Irwin, President of Mad Cave Studios, explained the goal of the imprint, stating:

“Our mission with Nakama Press is to connect readers with stories that resonate universally and cross cultural boundaries. We believe in the power of storytelling to bring people together, and Nakama Press is our way of celebrating that through the incredible world of manga and graphic novels.”

In addition to original stories, Nakama Press works with studios such as Tatsunoko Production and Rainbow Group. More information about the publisher, as well as some of its titles, will be revealed at Anime NYC’s Manga-Inspired Graphic Novels with Mad Cave panel. This panel will take place on Saturday, August 24th and will include Kristen Simon, Editor-in-Chief of Nakama Press, and Allison Pond, Marketing Director of Mad Cave Studios. They plan to discuss some of the titles coming in 2025.

Irwin also discussed the imprint’s approach to storytelling, explaining:

“We have a fantastic team of developers and editors who bring different voices and perspectives to our projects. Nakama Press celebrates this and offers readers a rich variety of stories that entertain, inspire and make a deep impression on audiences around the world.”
