Mahakumbh: Houses and buildings near Sangam to be painted in the same colour | Allahabad News

Houses and buildings leading to Sangam are painted in the same colour

Prayagraj: The houses on the way to Sangam area of the city will be painted in an identical color. During Kumbh-2019, PDA had also named the buildings along Mahatma Gandhi Marg and Sardar Patel Marg in the city’s Civil Lines area because of this unique similarity in house colours. However, only the buildings on Sardar Patel Marg were ultimately painted in bright red and black. As soon as the Kumbh celebrations were over, the ambitious plan was implemented, paint the structures along the MG Marg in a unified Color was put on ice.
However, this time, the PDA has made changes to the earlier plan and selected Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau roads leading to Sangam. Also, a route circumnavigating the High Court has been selected for this project. Before finalising the roads under this plan, the PDA also held meetings with local corporators and prominent citizens. PDA vice president Arvind Chauhan announced that the proposed roads will be made public within a day or two. In a concerted effort to make Mahakumbh-25 a plastic-free event, Om Nam Shivay organisation, known for its free food distribution, will serve prasad, meals and water at Dona, Pattal and Kulhar. This decision has been taken as part of the comprehensive plan to eliminate plastic and polythene from the Mahakumbh.
During Mahakumbh, hundreds of thousands of dona, pattal (plates made of leaves) and kulhar are required daily to serve prasad, food and water. Hundreds of workers are deployed to meet this need. For this purpose, the organisation has contacted people who make pattal and potters. Potters from Banda, Chitrakoot, Bhadohi, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi and Fatehpur are also invited to help in making dona, pattal and kulhar.
