Malaysia Airlines is in talks to order A320neo And A321neo said Wouter van Wersch, Executive Vice President of Airbus International The Edge Malaysia.
During a press conference, he acknowledged talks but did not mention the number of aircraft or the plans of the country’s national airline.
However, Van Wersch stressed that Malaysia is responsible for supplying many parts for the A320 family and that this is a good reason to choose the narrow-body aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines currently has a fleet of 42 Boeing 737-800 jets and four 737 MAX 8s, which will be delivered from late 2023.
The 737-800s, configured in two cabin classes, have been in Malaysia’s fleet since the end of 2010.
However, the airline is moving closer to Airbus after having already stopped operating Boeing wide-body aircraft in 2016 (777) and 2017 (747).
In early 2024, Malaysia Airlines announced a Leasing contract for 20 A330-900 which will replace its A330-300. The airline also has 20 options for the widebody aircraft.
Malaysia’s long-haul fleet also consists of the A350-900 (seven aircraft). In 2020, the company retired the six A380s it received between 2012 and 2013.
