New Rochelle police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in a downtown apartment building.

Charges are pending against 28-year-old Robert Wooten, who was arrested Saturday night in Queens. The arrest came less than 12 hours after Meisha Williams’ body was discovered in her apartment when police responded to a 911 call to 55 Clinton Place shortly before 10:15 a.m., police said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

Williams, 30, and Wooten knew each other, but the exact nature of their relationship or what led to the shooting was unclear. Police said Wooten’s last known address was in Queens.

It is unknown how long Williams lived there. The luxury 28-story apartment building, also known as One Clinton Park, was completed in 2022 and its sister building, Two Clinton Park, opened in June.

A woman who answered the phone at One Clinton Park Sunday morning said management had no comment.

Detective Lt. Brian Fagan thanked the NYPD’s 103rd Precinct, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance to city police and detectives in the investigation.
