The man who was denied access to the crashed plane in Sao Paulo said he argued with staff and even shouted at them. Now he is grateful.
A man who was denied access to the plane that crashed in Sao Paulo, killing everyone on board, has spoken about his feelings and thanked an airline employee who refused to let him board because he was delayed, for saving his life.
In an interview with Brazilian news channel TV Globo, Adriano Assis explained why he missed the flight. Part of his interview went viral and was shared on various social media platforms.
“This man was not allowed to board the plane that just crashed in Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil, because he was late. He argued with the man at the gate but ended up hugging him after hearing that the plane had crashed. This is unbelievable,” wrote an X user while sharing the video.
The man told the newspaper that he thought he had to board a Latam flight when he arrived at the airport. He waited for passengers to be called, but there was no notification. He later realized there had been a mix-up and he was supposed to board the crashed flight of the regional airline Voepass.
When he realized his mistake, he rushed to the gate, but was turned away by an airline employee. He also got into an argument with the employee and became angry. Assis also revealed in the interview that he is now grateful to the man and that the staff saved his life.

Assis is not the only one who missed the fateful flight. Another passenger made the same mistake and missed his flight. The passenger told the outlet: “Thank God we didn’t get on that plane. We didn’t know it was going to be from that airline (Voe Pass), we thought it was from Latam, and Latam was closed. I even arrived early (at the airport) and waited, waited and nothing.
