Marvel finally ends the canon debate about “Agents of SHIELD” – News about comic books and superhero films

Agents of SHIELD or Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD originally aired on ABC for seven seasons between 2013 and 2020. Over the years, there has been considerable speculation about where the series fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, a Marvel executive weighed in on the subject and provided what appears to be a definitive answer to the question of where the series fits in the MCU canon.

Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum wonders if “Agents of SHIELD” is part of the MCU canon

Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming and animation at Marvel Studios, called Agents of SHIELD a “great show” in a recent interview and gave his opinion on its place in the MCU. According to him, Agents of SHIELD fits incredibly well into the Multiverse Saga.

“I think Agents of SHIELD is a really great show and for a long time some of the best reveals in that show were during the Winter Soldier era when Hydra showed up and you were like, ‘Oh my God!'” Winderbaum told Screen Rant. “I remember that feeling, even though I knew what was happening, just being a fan and thinking, ‘It’s really connected!'” he added.

Winderbaum continued, “I think it feels in a crazy way, like you said, like it fits into the Multiverse Saga in an incredible way.” He went on to say that he loves Agents of SHIELD. “I want to walk this path with you, you know that, but we’re going to take a deep breath for a minute. Just know that I love this cast, I love Clark Gregg (who plays Phil Coulson) and I love this show,” he said.

When Agents of SHIELD came out, it was a direct continuation of some storylines from The Avengers (2012). In the years that followed, story elements emerged connecting Agents of SHIELD to various mainstream MCU entries, such as Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Despite this, Marvel Studios’ The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline, an official book detailing the MCU timeline, reportedly makes no mention of Coulson’s resurrection, effectively suggesting that Agents of SHIELD is not part of the main MCU. And now, with Winderbaum’s statement, that debate seems to have finally ended.
