Meet your favorite columnists and learn how to use the online newspaper on September 18

With intense weather events, heated election campaigns, and a colorful Olympics in Paris, the news cycle this summer has been pretty breathtaking — and we’re grateful that you rely on us to keep you up to date on everything.

Now that fall is upon us and we’re settling back into our daily routines, I thought it was time to invite some Star-Ledger subscribers to visit our newsroom in Iselin. Come meet some of your favorite columnists while learning how to get the most out of your subscription.

On Wednesday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, I will host a meeting with Peter Genovese, Karin Price Mueller and Steve Politi, who will speak about their areas of expertise and answer your questions.

Their brief talks will be followed by short presentations from myself and my colleagues at our parent company Advance Local, Susan Probert, Director of Customer Relations, and Geri Canny, Manager of Corporate Engagement, to provide helpful insights into the Star-Ledger online newspaper.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Participants will also have a chance to win a new iPad or a $250 Visa gift card. We will have coffee and pastries in the morning while we chat and get set up. We will also provide a light lunch after our small group sessions.

This session is intended for subscribers who have not yet activated their online newspaper account or have activated it but have not yet used the platform. We only have space for 60 subscribers, so don’t wait to reserve a spot.

Email Susan and Geri at [email protected] for registration instructions.

During the breakout sessions you will learn:

  • How to print articles and puzzles
  • How to share articles with friends and family
  • How to use the page zoom feature to enlarge and reduce articles
  • How to access other online publications, such as the Update section and The New York Times Books Review

I also answer questions about how we produce content and any other questions about our journalism at NJ Advance Media, which provides content for NJ.com and The Star-Ledger.

The Star-Ledger online newspaper offers subscribers at least 10 exclusive pages a day of additional local, national and business news not found in the print newspaper. Bonus content includes a weekly TV guide, Times book reviews and occasional special editions.

I’ve written about several of my newsroom colleagues over the past few months and am grateful for all the positive feedback you’ve given me.

Here’s your chance to meet three of our favorite authors who didn’t hesitate for a second to meet some of you in person.

Enrique Lavin is Publisher of the online newspaper. Send him an email to [email protected]
