Memphis Botanical Garden introduces new outdoor reading adventure

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Botanic Garden has announced the addition of a Storybook Trail in the Urban Home Garden.

Beginning in September, the Storybook Trail will feature Anna McQuinn’s “Lola Plants a Garden” on child-friendly panels. Families are encouraged to interact with the book by following reading suggestions as they walk the short trail and read together.

A family-friendly grand opening event will be held on September 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, hands-on activities, story time and a kid-friendly tour of the Urban Home Garden.

The event is included in garden admission and no reservations are required. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and stay after the event to continue the journey on their own.

The Storybook Trail was made possible by a donation from the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, whose mission is to promote literacy in Tennessee.

said James Pond, President and CEO of GELF.
