Michael B. Jordan returns to the comic book universe.
The 33-year-old actor will produce the film from Warner Bros. and DC Comics Static shockbased on the DC and Milestone Comics character Static, The Hollywood Reporter first announced on Friday.
The star, who appeared as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in 2015’s “The Last Man,” Fantastic Fourwill support filmmaker Reginald Hudlin in the project.

Static first became known in the early 2000s in the animated series Static shock.
The comic is about high school student Virgil Hawkins, who transforms into Static, a superhero with electromagnetic powers, after being exposed to a strange gas.
The series gained notoriety because it was one of the few animated series with a black main character.
Following the announcement, Jordan released a cheeky tweet about the upcoming film with the Static Comic cover and captioned the image with a lightning bolt and a winking emoji.

The project was first unveiled during the DC FanDome event in August.
Phil LaMarr, the original voice of Static, explained how important it is to promote a character like Static, Weekly entertainment reported.
“Virgil is what I always wanted as a comic book kid: Black Spider-Man. A good story can make you experience it, feel it, and when that happens, it resonates on a whole other level,” he explained.
LaMarr added, “It touched on archetypes that I love as a comic book fan, but also my life as a black man in the real world.”
Jordan was most recently a producer and lead actor in the legal drama Only grace and will appear in the thriller Without regret Next year.
