Although Disney bought Marvel in 2010, it was slow to allow the publisher to adapt its characters into comics. This was due to a number of outstanding licensing deals with other American publishers such as Boom! Studios and IDW Publishing. However, 2024 has spawned a flood of stories that mix the two settings, such as “Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime.”
Minnie Mouse crossover is a reminiscence of the classic Captain Marvel
The story of “What If…? Minnie Mouse Became Captain Marvel” is based on Carol Danvers’ first solo series at Marvel Comics. Although she is now better known for her military background, Carol Danvers was employed as a writer and editor at The Daily Bugle at the time of her comic’s publication. The “What If…?” special puts Minnie Mouse in a similar situation.
Minnie is a reporter assigned to write an expose on Duckburg’s newest hero, Captain Marvel. However, her attention is divided as her newspaper is attacked by the villainous Peg Leg Pete-Scorpion and an unbelievable secret from her past awaits her. Minnie also has to deal with a raid on Scrooge McDuck’s money vault by the Beagle Boys and John D. Rockerduck.

What If…? Minnie Mouse Became Captain Marvel will be produced by an experienced team of Disney comic book writers. The illustrations will be by Giada Perissinotto, who previously worked on What If…? Donald Duck Became Wolverine. In addition, Steve Behling and Luca Barbieri will write the screenplay. Both writers have also worked on previous Marvel/Disney crossover events.
What if…? “Minnie Became Captain Marvel” #1 will be in comic book stores on November 20, 2024.
