MLB Power Rankings: Yankees fall, Dodgers rise in wild postseason picture

The Major League Baseball postseason begins in just over six weeks, and no team has yet separated itself from the pack.

No team is on track for a 100-win season. It would be the first full season without a 100-game winner since 2014. Additionally, there is no clear favorite to win the World Series, with as many as 16 teams looking to have a real chance of being the last team standing at the end of the season.

Biggest climbers

Los Angeles Dodgers (+3)

The Dodgers are getting fitter and their lineup is getting more impressive by the day. Max Muncy and Tommy Edman returned to the lineup on Monday night, while Mookie Betts made an impressive comeback last week. In addition, Gavin Lux has proven to be one of the best hitters in baseball in the second half. Watch for the Dodgers over the last six weeks as they play some highly competitive baseball in a tight divisional race.

Biggest losers

Baltimore Orioles (-3)

The Orioles’ drop in three spots in the standings has less to do with them and more to do with the tight race for MLB’s best record. The Brewers’ recent dominance has allowed them to jump into the top four and push the Orioles – who have lost three of four and five of eight games – down several spots.

Seattle Mariners (-3)

The Mariners have one of the best pitching teams in baseball, which has kept them afloat this season. Unfortunately, they have one of the worst offenses in baseball and have now lost six of their last seven games. In all six of those losses, they have scored three or fewer runs and are suddenly in danger of missing the postseason altogether as the upstart Astros try to win the American League West.
