Monterey Beach Hotela Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, reopened yesterday after an extensive renovation and redesign. As the only beachfront hotel on the Monterey Peninsula, the property celebrates the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region with 192 guest rooms, including four suites, versatile meeting and event space, redesigned culinary facilities and more.

The Monterey Beach Hotel is located just minutes from downtown Monterey and just off the famous Highway 1. As an anchor of hospitality in Monterey, the property partners with local artisans and personalities to enrich the entire guest experience with enriching moments of local culture. The hotel’s design transformation is led by LA-based Indidesign, with project management provided by LUCID, Highgate’s in-house design and engineering studio. Indidesign embodied the epitome of California living by selecting custom furnishings and incorporating natural materials to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces and showcase the spectacular ocean views upon arrival.

“The Monterey Beach Hotel embodies the essence of the Monterey Peninsula and is a reflection of the quintessential Central California coastal experience, which we wanted to honor with a comprehensive renovation of this truly one-of-a-kind property,” said Alex Halpern, co-founder and chief investment officer of Ascendant. “With its modern interiors, enhanced food and beverage offerings and dynamic spaces for gatherings of all kinds, the hotel pays tribute to the connection of sea, nature and the vibrant mosaic of community that defines Monterey’s charm. We are excited to reintroduce this iconic property with an entirely new aesthetic and elevated experiences that reflect an unparalleled sense of place on a truly special stretch of coastline.”

The Monterey Beach Hotel’s three signature culinary and cocktail bars – Lobby Lounge, The Lantern Room and Tidewater – offer unique, chef-inspired interpretations of the flavors of California’s Central Coast. Led by resident culinary consultant Paul Corsentino, execution by longtime executive chef Jose Velasquez and an elevated wine program in collaboration with local winemaker Ian Brand of I. Brand & Family Winery, guests can enjoy the best of Monterey County, from all-day dining to sunset cocktails at the beachfront eatery Tidewater. The food and beverage offerings highlight the hotel’s commitment to the community through many partnerships with local purveyors and sustainable, organic practices.

The hotel offers world-class amenities that extend beyond its private beach and unparalleled coastal views. From a heated outdoor pool and hot tub to Scandinavian-inspired contrast therapy with barrel saunas and ice baths (first available this fall) and complimentary e-bikes, the Monterey Beach Hotel is a haven for wellness lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With over 7,500 square feet of versatile meeting and event space and 32,500 square feet of private beach access, the Monterey Beach Hotel is suitable for a variety of occasions, from beach weddings and large corporate events to hotel takeovers and intimate executive retreats.

“We look forward to making our mark and welcoming both new travelers and members of the community to The Monterey Beach Hotel. Our property truly stands out with a reimagined hotel experience, world-class dining offerings and a first-class hospitality style,” said Nathan Hanner, General Manager.

Reservations are now available for the brand new Monterey Beach hotel, with rates starting at $350 per night. Reservations for the Lantern Room are also now available through OpenTable, allowing guests and the public to enjoy breakfast daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
