All-Star outfielder Mookie Betts returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup on Monday, hitting a home run in his first game back from the injured list. Although he’s back in the Dodgers’ lineup, Betts is not staying with the team at their hotel.

The Dodgers’ schedule took them to Wisconsin earlier in the week for a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Typically, MLB teams book a hotel near the stadium so they can get to the ballpark quickly and have all the players in one place. However, Betts found alternative accommodations.

The Pfister Hotel, originally built in 1893, is located in the heart of Milwaukee. Since then, there have been several reservations, but rumors that the 21-story hotel is haunted have dogged it for years.

Betts’ decision isn’t just based on online rumors or scary stories on Reddit. The Dodgers’ MVP candidate has heard stories from his peers about one of the most haunted hotels where MLB teams stay.

Is the Dodgers hotel haunted?

Many well-known MLB players, from Hall of Fame third baseman Adrian Beltre to starting pitcher Jon Gray, have reported their spooky experiences at the Pfister Hotel.

“The third baseman heard knocking noises on his door while the television and air conditioner repeatedly turned on and off. He also claimed to have heard banging noises coming from the other side of his headboard, as if a man was hitting the wood with the palm of his hand.”

The hotel was also said to have had tampering and “electrical anomalies” that frightened guests. Despite this, it remains one of the highest-rated hotels in Milwaukee and is clearly the Dodgers’ preferred lodging.

Next up for the Dodgers is a trip to Busch Stadium to face the St. Louis Cardinals, and Betts will likely be staying at the same hotel as his teammates.
