Today’s MSSP Alert market news:

1. Blue Mantis announces acquisition of HighTechnique: Blue Mantis, a provider of managed services, cybersecurity and cloud solutions, has acquired HighTechnique, an independent provider of cybersecurity services. The acquisition expands Blue Mantis’ network and cybersecurity capabilities, particularly in serving public sector customers who have advanced compliance and business protection requirements, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

2. CrowdStrike publishes Threat Hunting Report: CrowdStrike has released its 2024 Threat Hunting Report, highlighting the latest attacker trends, campaigns and tactics based on intelligence from CrowdStrike’s threat hunters and intelligence analysts. The report reveals a rise in government and eCrime attackers exploiting legitimate credentials and identities to evade detection and bypass outdated security controls, as well as a rise in hands-on keyboard intrusion attempts, cross-domain attacks and cloud control plane exploits, CrowdStrike reports.

3. Pluralsight courses target Volt Typhoon Defense: Pluralsight, a technology workforce development company, is offering an expert-led course focused on understanding, detecting and defending against the Volt Typhoon hacker group. Volt Typhoon is a state-sponsored cyber group that seeks to position itself in IT and OT networks to conduct cyberattacks on critical U.S. infrastructure, particularly in the communications, energy, transportation and water sectors, the company said.

4. LastPass is hiring executives: LastPass, a provider of password and identity management solutions, has appointed Heather Brown as its first Chief Customer Officer. Brown will oversee the company’s customer success, customer support and community teams. Prior to joining LastPass, she led the commercial sales and customer success teams at PagerDuty and previously held global leadership roles at Accenture and Salesforce.

5. Securonix offers free SIEM upgrade: Securonix launches a free SIEM upgrade program that enables cybersecurity teams to seamlessly upgrade from QRadar, ArcSight, LogRhythm and Exabeam to Securonix Unified Defense SIEM. Securonix offers free implementation services and free months of SIEM with a minimum subscription.

6. Announcement of new Cyware executive hires: Cyware, a specialist in threat intelligence management, security collaboration and orchestrated response, has appointed Sachin Jade as Chief Product Officer and Ashok Kumar as Head of US Engineering. Prior to joining Cyware, Sachin worked at Verizon. Kumar previously led engineering and technical operations at AT&T Cybersecurity and held leadership roles at Trustwave and Verizon Connect.

7. Ark Infotech acquires Vantyr: Ark Infotech, a provider of cloud and cybersecurity solutions for the commercial and government sectors, has acquired Vantyr, a specialist in securing non-human identities in cloud and SaaS environments. The acquisition follows Ark’s acquisition of slauth.io, an IAM Policy Copilot product, in December 2023 and positions Ark as a force in the cloud and SaaS security market, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

8. Halliburton affected by cyber attack: Oil giant Halliburton said on Wednesday it was struggling with a computer system issue that was allegedly linked to a cyberattack. A person familiar with the matter told Reuters that Halliburton had been hit by a cyberattack that appeared to be affecting business operations at the company’s Houston campus and some global networks. “We are aware of an issue affecting certain corporate systems and are working diligently to determine the cause and potential impact,” a Halliburton spokesperson said in a statement. “We have activated our pre-planned response plan and are working internally and with leading experts to resolve the issue.” (Source: CNN)
