Murphy brings more wells into operation in the Gulf of Mexico

Murphy Oil was involved in a new discovery (Ocotillo No. 1) in Mississippi Canyon 40 in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the company’s latest trading update, a net gain of 100 feet was achieved in two zones. Murphy owns a 33.33% interest.

Another non-operated exploration well, Orange No. 1 (Mississippi Canyon 216), encountered non-commercial hydrocarbons and has since undergone a P&A review.

During the second quarter, Murphy drilled the Mormont #3 well in Green Canyon 478 as operator and brought Khaleesi #4 (Green Canyon 389) into production. The Lucius #11 well in Keathley Canyon 919 (non-operated) was also brought into production.

In addition, the Company has advanced its Neidermeyer No. 1 (Mississippi Canyon 208) sidetrack well, which was brought into production during the current quarter, as well as the workover of the idle Kodiak No. 3 (Mississippi Canyon 727) well.

The Company changed the development plan for a well in the Samurai field to a single zone to improve the overall recovery of the field. Prolonged work on the planned Neidermeyer No. 1 lateral well delayed the start of the workover of a well in the Dalmatian field.

Off the coast of Vietnam, Murphy has been advancing its Lac Da Vang field development project and awarding equipment and pipeline contracts. The key outstanding work is expected to be awarded by year-end, with first oil planned for late 2026.

In Block 15-2/17 in the Cuu Long Basin off the coast of South Vietnam, planning is continuing for the Hai Su Vang exploration well, which could begin drilling in the current quarter. The reservoir area has potential for 170-430 million barrels of oil equivalent.

And in Block 15-1/05, the exploration well Lac Da Hong (65-135 MMboe) is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter.

Finally, Murphy has pledged to submit a development plan for the Paon oil discovery offshore C by the end of next year.Öthe Ivory Coast.
