In 2021, Shelby Patrice used her own funds to start her nonprofit education and financial literacy organization, Budget University. Her organization teaches students the importance of being financially literate and supports teachers in teaching financial literacy curriculum. In 2023, she won a $25,000 Accelerator Prize from the Dallas Mavericks in the team’s Mavs Business Assist Finals.

“I hold workshops in middle and high schools and my students influence my style. I try to wear the latest styles so that my students are more interested in learning.”

“My style choices are inspired by my mood and schedule. I always make sure I wear high heels or sneakers that match my everyday clothes. I place a lot of importance on comfort and elegance – this always works.”

“I would describe my style as ‘business vibe’. I’m always in business, but there’s always a certain mood, with bright colors to match.”
Fashion essentials
“I never leave the house without my makeup bag. It contains all my important things: business cards, makeup bag and perfume. I’m always on the go and when I see someone I want to introduce myself to, I’m never afraid to give them a 30-second speech.”

“It’s definitely a polo shirt from Budget University, boyfriend jeans and loafers from Tory Burch.”
How I wear accessories
“I can’t go wrong with a designer belt, a small dial watch, diamond stud earrings, two bracelets and my everyday necklace.”
Weekend look
“For me, weekends and free time mean it’s time to throw on some pajamas. I have a collection of pajama sets and loungewear. Of course, the top and bottom have to match.”

“My favorite clothing store is TJ Maxx. They have everything. You can get everything in one place.”
