NASA provides update on status of manned flight tests

NASA will hold a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 14, to provide an update on the agency’s Boeing Crew Flight Test. Mission managers continue to evaluate the Starliner spacecraft’s operational readiness ahead of decision meetings, which will take place no earlier than next week, on the return of NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams.

The audio of the conference call will be streamed live on the agency’s website:

Participants include:

  • Ken Bowersox, deputy administrator of NASA’s Space Operations Mission Directorate
  • Joel Montalbano, deputy director of NASA’s Space Operations Mission Directorate
  • Russ DeLoach, director of NASA’s Office of Safety and Mission Assurance
  • NASA Chief Astronaut Joe Acaba
  • Emily Nelson, Chief Flight Director, NASA Flight Operations Directorate

To submit questions during the call, media representatives must contact Jimi Russell at [email protected] at least two hours before the call begins. NASA’s media accreditation guidelines are available online.

NASA’s Boeing Crew Flight Test launched June 5 on a ULA (United Launch Alliance) Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. It is an end-to-end test of the Starliner system as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. By partnering with America’s private sector, NASA is opening access to low Earth orbit and the space station to more people, science and commercial opportunities.
