Nathaniel Hackett criticizes Andrew Peasley for poor RPO read

Nathaniel Hackett, New York Jets offensive coordinator and veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers are working hard to optimize the offense ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Still, reserve quarterback Andrew Peasley decided to deviate from the script on this play in the 2nd quarter of the first week of the NFL preseason.

To understand how effective an offensive coordinator can be, it is important to understand the game flow. For Hackett, it was the perfect play for 3rd & 1 from his own 38-yard line. Hackett wants to get as many exhibition matches on offense as possible and he can only do that by constantly moving the chains.

The media continues to criticize Hackett, head coach Robert Saleh and Rodgers. However, Hackett’s attacking strategy seems to harmonize perfectly with his new personnel.

As more All-22 NFL film emerges throughout the preseason, a clearer picture will emerge of how Hackett plans to run the Jets’ offense. For now, Hackett is focused on making sure all of his chess pieces are working as planned.

Peasley will continue his tryouts with the New York Jets, competing with quarterback Tyrod Taylor, rookie Jordan Taylor and Adrian Martinez, who played well in last week’s win over the Commanders. With only 53 spots on the roster, it’s understandable why Peasley tried to hit the home run with such an easy assessment.
