Several of Netflix’s 2024 anime series and movies have reportedly leaked online. Affected anime series include Dandadan, Terminator Zero, Ranma ½, and Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, with several full episodes appearing online on social media sites such as Twitter and 4Chan.
According to Anime News Network, the leak was first discovered when low-resolution clips appeared online that featured watermarks and timestamps. The worst affected episodes were Terminator Zero, Ranma ½, and Dandadan, where entire episodes appeared. Not only did the content appear on social media, some of it also made its way onto torrent websites, which seems to be a huge data loss for Netflix.
The streaming service has yet to comment on the reports, but it is not the only platform affected. The first episode of Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Season 3 has also surfaced online, bearing watermarks suggesting it was acquired at the Japan Expo 2024 in July.
The anime community reacted to the news online, emphasizing its enormous significance. “This may be the biggest leak disaster in anime history,” wrote Chibi Reviews, “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Nicholas Light tweeted, “When people say ‘360p’… that’s not what it’s about lol. It’s crazy what happened this week. These aren’t just any anime either, they’re probably the biggest to come out this year.”
Terminator Zero is set to release later this month on August 29, while Dandadan is set to premiere on October 6. Check out the other new anime on the way, as well as our roundup of the best anime you can stream right now.
