New summer reading record set in library

The Maryville Public Library’s eight-week summer reading contest saw the highest participation rate in ten years.

The challenge ended on July 31 and involved a total of 376 children ages 0-17 and 91 adults. At least 139 students from preschool to high school completed the challenge of reading at least 20 minutes a day for 20 days. For every 10 days that the children read for 20 minutes or more, they received prizes, including books.
