New York Comic Con extends program until Wednesday, October 16 • AIPT

ReedPop has announced that New York Comic Con is expanding its programming to Wednesday for the first time, meaning there will be additional programming on Wednesday, October 16, ahead of opening day, which will take place October 17-20, 2024.

“The industry professionals who attend New York Comic Con each year are a cornerstone of what makes the event what it is today,” said Kristina Rogers, Vice President of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio. “By expanding our programming to Wednesday for the first time this year, we can expand offerings that provide greater value to our incredible professional partners.”

On Wednesday, October 16, from noon to 9 p.m., comic book retailers, industry experts, and NYCC sponsors can attend a closed-door event featuring numerous panels, interactive programs, free giveaways, and private book signings at the Javits Center’s River Pavilion before NYCC fully opens on Thursday, October 17. The program is provided by ComicsPro, Lunar, Tiny Onion, and others, and covers a wide range of topics, including “Get Your Shop in the News: PR Essentials,” “Working with Schools and Libraries,” and “Speed ​​Networking with Comic Book Retailers.”

NORWALK, CT – August 15, 2024 – ReedPop, the world’s leading producer of pop culture events, today announced it will add an exciting professional program to this year’s New York Comic Con. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 16, marking the first year that ReedPop will extend its content to Wednesday, just before the convention’s opening day. NYCC returns to the Javits Center in New York City October 17-20, 2024.

On Wednesday, October 16, from noon to 9 p.m., comic book retailers, industry experts, and NYCC sponsors can attend a closed-door event featuring numerous panels, interactive programs, free giveaways, and private book signings at the Javits Center’s River Pavilion before NYCC fully opens on Thursday, October 17. The program is provided by ComicsPro, Lunar, Tiny Onion, and others, and covers a wide range of topics, including “Get Your Shop in the News: PR Essentials,” “Working with Schools and Libraries,” and “Speed ​​Networking with Comic Book Retailers.”

Retailers can grab exclusive comics like The Ministry of Truth #25 NYCC Retailer Exclusive by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell and private book signings with the creators will also be available. Things get even more exciting with professional comic-centric programming continuing later in the week with an ICv2 White Page presentation and an Industry Mixer sponsored by Comic Sketch Art on Thursday, October 17th from 7:00pm-9:00pm. The mixer is open to all Professional, Artist Alley, Publisher and Retailer Comics Pro badge holders and there will be free giveaways from Tiny Onion. Additionally, Friday, October 18th will feature the Harvey Awards, one of the comics industry’s oldest and most prestigious awards, recognizing excellence in multiple categories.

Other professional partnerships at NYCC include extensive programs with professional development for librarians and educators, including curated panels with teachers, scholars, and authors. Attendees are invited to join Manga In Libraries, which will host a “Day of Manga” showcasing how to integrate manga into public library systems. The CLE, representing Clients in Comic Book Publishing, will present an accredited course from the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education, while the NYC Department of Education will also offer accredited programs in collaboration with Lit-X, a community of educators redefining the classroom experience by integrating modern texts and innovative teaching methods with comics, gaming, and improvisation.

For professional comic book retailers who wish to attend the closed event on Wednesday, October 16th, free Wednesday and Thursday Pro Tickets to the event will be automatically awarded. Additionally, professionals will have the opportunity to purchase a 4-day Pro Ticket. If you are a retailer with Lunar Distribution, registration is required.
