New York Giants record slight jump in latest ESPN rankings

After the 2024 NFL Draft, ESPN released an updated version of its power rankings and placed the New York Giants in last place, 28th overall.

Four months later, Big Blue’s stock has improved. Slightly.

On Monday, the ESPN team released its revised Power Rankings, complete with a look at the executives, coaches and players who will be on the hot seat during the regular season.

For the Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones is unsurprisingly listed as a “hot seat.” What’s more remarkable, however, is that New York actually rose two spots in the rankings to 26th overall.

Ranking after the draft: 28

Who is in the hot seat?: QB Daniel Jones

The Giants negotiated Jones’ contract last season with the option to opt out after two years. So far, Jones has injured his neck, torn his ACL and thrown two touchdown passes and six interceptions in six games for $46 million. The team has made no secret of the need for him to prove he’s the conductor, not just a passenger, after searching for his replacement in the draft.

The talk about Jones is redundant, so there’s really no need to get into it. He has to play well in 2024 or he’ll be gone in 2025. It’s that simple and not worth getting into.

Unfortunately, since the article focused solely on Jones, no explanation was given as to why the Giants moved up two spots in the last four months. But if we had to guess, it probably has something to do with rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.
