News in brief: Six Senses Resort, Residences in Telluride; Playa sells resort in the Dominican Republic

SIX SENSES SIGNS RESORT, TELLURIDE CONDOMINIUMS: IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its luxury and lifestyle portfolio, signing a deal for a new Six Senses resort in Telluride, Colorado. Located just above town in Mountain Village, Six Senses Telluride will be set in a canyon flanked by the 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains. The resort will have 77 rooms and 24 branded residences and is expected to open in 2028. This is IHG’s first luxury resort and residential property in the West Region of North America. The development team, led by Matthew Shear and David Jaskel of The Vault Home Collection, has worked with Six Senses to bring the brand’s outdoor and wellness-focused hospitality and residential experience to the Telluride area. Residences will range from two to five bedrooms, with some featuring a home office. The property will feature ski concierges in the winter, multiple dining options, a spa, meeting rooms, a market hall and retail space. Six Senses currently operates 27 properties worldwide and has 40 more in the planning stages.

PLAYA SELLS JEWEL PALM BEACH: Playa Hotels & Resorts has entered into a binding agreement with an undisclosed third party to sell Jewel Palm Beach for $68 million in cash. Playa expects the sale to close by the third quarter and is subject to customary closing conditions. The luxury all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, opened approximately two years ago and marked the debut of the Jewel Resort brand in the Dominican Republic. Playa currently owns and/or manages 25 resorts with a total of 9,127 rooms.

INDIGO BRAND HOTEL RESORT IN OMAN: IHG Hotels & Resorts will open Hotel Indigo Cabal Akhdar Resort & Spa on Jebel Akhdar in Oman on September 1. The resort is located at an altitude of 2,000 meters and offers views of the valleys of the Green Mountains, also known as Jebel Akhdar. The hotel has 173 rooms, suites and chalets with views of the mountain landscape. The hotel also has three restaurants, a spa and a wellness center. The Hotel Indigo portfolio is part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio and includes 158 hotels worldwide, with 133 more under development.

MOXY HOTELS ARRIVES IN MUMBAI: Moxy Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, has kicked off operations in Mumbai with the opening of Moxy Mumbai Andheri West. Located in the Andheri West area, the hotel is in a prime location amidst cinemas and shopping malls. The hotel features 105 rooms, a lounge and library, three dining options, a gym and two function rooms. The Moxy Hotels portfolio offers a “playful, social” approach to hospitality and includes more than 135 hotels in over 25 countries.
